What is “gingham? Gingham is a cotton fabric, or cotton blend fabric, made with dyed yarn woven using a plain weave to form a checked pattern.

The truth is that gingham does not mean check or checked, it actually means striped. But, when you’re dealing with a fabric that’s over five hundred years old. Naturally some things do get lost in translation. “Gingham” comes from the Malayan word genggang, or “striped.”

Gingham is usually a two-color pattern white plus any solid color. Because this Bow Tie is Handmade with 100% cotton fabric it is very versatile.

All of our Bow Ties are self tie style because of using fasteners. Easy to put on and take off without untying, thus keeping that perfect knot. We use metal sliders so that bow ties can be seamlessly adjusted to fit different neck sizes.
